New Water Feature (AKA Motz Falls from 2009)
8-5-10 This project is carried over from last year (see 2009). The site was prepared by installing a plastic border to define the area. The grass was covered with sheet plastic and gravel to kill off anything under the plastic. The shrubs along the wall were also removed.
I went through several ideas for the new water feature. I had originally planed for a full blown waterfall with pond and all the trimmings. My better judgment has taken hold of me and I decided to do something simpler and maintenance free (almost).
I considered using the old fountain but it was cracked and falling apart so I installed something called a pondless fountain. The nice thing about this is that all the water stays out of site under the river rock. That means the crows can't use it for bombing practice. The removal of the old fountain made space for the statue that Hoddi has wanted for some time. This project kills two birds with one stone. Wish I could do the same to the crows (hate those things!)

Close up of the Fountain and Statue. The statue: In Greek mythology, Hebe (pronounced Evie) is the goddess of youth (Roman equivalent: Juventas). She is the daughter of Zeus and Hera. Hebe was the cup bearer for the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus, serving their nectar and ambrosia, until she was married to Heracles, (Roman equivalent: Hercules); her successor was the young Trojan prince Ganymede. Another title of hers, for this reason, is "Ganymeda." She also drew baths for Ares and helped Hera enter her chariot.

Shrub Trimming project (9-30-2010)

The large shrubs that live at the edge of the garden grow very fast. It has been 3 years since the last trimming and I am in the process of removing about 8 to 9 feet from the top...

And the finished project....
Finished!!!
