After the wind storms of last winter I decided it was time to have the 3 tall trees in the front yard removed before they fell on something like the house!!!
The company I contracted with (Mashell River Timberworks) used a crane to bring down the trees. It was the cleanest job I have ever seen. Took 3 hours and nothing was left behind.

How it was done........................................

Now that the trees are gone the garden just cried for something to be added. What is a garden without a path? Just had to add one. First thing that had
to be done was to remove the bark, then add a border to keep the materials separated, install retaining wall where required, add gravel ....done!!!

The view of Puget Sound is is great when not blocked by the trees that grow about 4 feet in a years time. That means a lot of trimming every year and
I'm getting too old for that! We acquired permission from the neighbors that live behind us to remove the offending trees (some are on their property)
while I am still able to.

Finally got it all cut and in a pile. Now to load it all into the big green box which is a 40 cubic foot container!
WOW! All cleaned up and looks a lot better! Anyone need any firewood?

All the limbs have been removed, the large logs are cut, and a lot of the stumps have been cut off. There is still pile of large limbs to be cut into
firewood and after that is done I have to start cutting the rest of the stumps.

Finally!!! All the wood is cut, brush is cleaned up, and the view is now improved. Now I can sit back and enjoy.....nahhh, more projects to be done!!!

The deck clearing project done in 2006 left the area clear but not very usable due to the steep incline down to the rockery. To be able to recover this
area I will need to build on top of the rockery. First all the plants must be cleared and then flatten the top of the rockery stones. The surface must be flat
and level for the placement of my usual retaining wall. I can't cut the rockery stones so I guess this means more concrete work!! The most time consuming
process was cutting the concrete form to fit the rockery.

Finally got all the concrete poured and the top of the rockery is flat. After the addition of 2 rows of landscape stones the level has been raised about 18
inches. This will provide a nice level area. A stone stairway was installed and now all that is left is to fill with dirt and start planting next spring.

Here are some overall before and after photos.

2008 update...Dirt from the bedroom remodel project has been moved to this area and it is now being planted.
